2-Day Shanghai City
Day 1 — The Bund & Old Shanghai Morning walk along the Bund, crossing to Pudong for skyline views. Afternoon in Yu Garden and the Old City bazaar. Evening river cruise optional.
Day 2 — French Concession & Modern Shanghai Tree-lined Wukang Road, Tianzifang art lanes, lunch at a local favourite. Afternoon at the Shanghai Museum or Power Station of Art.
4-Day Shanghai + Suzhou
Days 1–2 as above, then:
Day 3 — Suzhou Gardens Private transfer to Suzhou (30 min by bullet train). Humble Administrator's Garden, Master of Nets Garden, silk embroidery museum. Back to Shanghai by evening.
Day 4 — Tongli Water Town Optional day trip to the canal town of Tongli — stone bridges, Ming-era courtyard homes, unhurried pace perfect for senior travellers.
5-Day Shanghai + Suzhou + Hangzhou
Add:
Day 5 — Hangzhou West Lake Bullet train to Hangzhou (45 min). West Lake boat crossing, Lingyin Temple, Longjing tea village for a tasting. Return same day.
Key Attractions
The Bund — Shanghai's iconic waterfront promenade with 52 Art Deco and Beaux-Arts buildings facing the glittering Pudong skyline.
French Concession — Leafy streets, 1920s villas, independent boutiques and excellent restaurants. The most walkable neighbourhood in the city.
Suzhou Classical Gardens — Four UNESCO World Heritage gardens within easy reach. Humble Administrator's Garden is the largest and most photogenic.
Hangzhou West Lake — China's most celebrated lake, inspiration for poets and painters for a thousand years.
Practical Information
Getting around: Private car between attractions — no public transport needed with your guide.
Senior notes: Flat terrain throughout Shanghai. Gardens have some uneven stone paths — comfortable walking shoes recommended. We pace every day to suit you.
Best season: Spring (March–May) for cherry blossoms and mild weather. Autumn (Sep–Nov) for clear skies and foliage.
Avoid: July–August (hot and humid) and Golden Week (1–7 October, very crowded).
