Dali & Lijiang Private Tour Guide
Ancient cobblestone towns, Bai and Naxi minority culture, and the snow-capped Jade Dragon Snow Mountain — Yunnan's crown jewels.
Highlights
Why Dali & Lijiang?
Most visitors to China see the imperial east — Beijing, Xi'an, Shanghai. Yunnan province in the southwest is a different China entirely: ethnic minority cultures, Himalayan foothills, and an unhurried pace that feels miles from the modern world. Dali and Lijiang are the twin gateways.
Suggested Itineraries
3-Day Lijiang Focus
Day 1 — Arrival & Old Town Afternoon arrival in Lijiang (direct flights from Shanghai, Beijing, Chengdu). Easy walk through the UNESCO-listed Old Town — canals, waterwheels, willow trees. Evening Naxi music performance at the Dongba Cultural Museum.
Day 2 — Jade Dragon Snow Mountain Morning cable car to the Glacier Park at 4,500m (oxygen available at summit). Afternoon at Baisha village for Naxi frescoes. Sunset at Black Dragon Pool for the classic mountain reflection.
Day 3 — Shuhe Ancient Town Half-day at nearby Shuhe — quieter and less touristy than Lijiang Old Town. Afternoon depart.
5-Day Dali + Lijiang
Days 1–2 — Dali Erhai Lake cycling, Three Pagodas, Bai minority village of Xizhou. Local market and Bai cuisine cooking class.
Day 3 — Transfer to Lijiang Scenic 3-hour drive through mountain passes, with stops.

Key Attractions
Lijiang Old Town — 800-year-old cobblestone network of lanes, canals and traditional Naxi wooden architecture. UNESCO-listed. Best explored early morning before crowds arrive.
Jade Dragon Snow Mountain — The sacred mountain of the Naxi people, snowcapped year-round. Cable car reaches 4,506m — acclimatise one day in Lijiang first.
Three Pagodas, Dali — Tang Dynasty pagodas (9th century) reflected in a still pool against the Cangshan mountains backdrop. One of Yunnan's most iconic images.
Tiger Leaping Gorge viewpoint — One of the world's deepest gorges, accessible by car to a viewpoint (no trekking needed). The scale is staggering.
Practical Information
Getting there: Direct flights from major Chinese cities to Lijiang (LJG airport). Alternatively, fly into Kunming and connect.
Altitude note: Lijiang sits at 2,400m; Jade Dragon Snow Mountain summit is 4,506m. Allow one full day to acclimatise before strenuous activities. Oxygen provided at summit cable car. Not recommended for guests with serious heart or respiratory conditions — please discuss with us.
Senior notes: Old Town streets are cobblestone — comfortable flat shoes essential. Cable car eliminates all climbing. Private car throughout. We build rest time into every day.
Best season: March–May (flowers, clear skies) and September–October (post-monsoon clarity). Avoid July–August (rainy season, though still beautiful).
